It is amazing the situations life brings to your platter. In high school, I barely talked to Jason Fox other than a few interactions and group projects in the honors classes we shared. We were on different sides of the intelligent scale, with me being more than happy to dish out the pranks many of the jerks in the school deserved, while he was the one doing their homework for them. Very different.
So to run into him now, to see someone that even on first glance is obviously changed from their old ways of trying to be part of the in crowd and failing, is refreshing. Really shows that people can change, even people from Stoneybrook where the desire for money and power often times takes over their better selves. To find out he, too, is working in a school where kids don't have the privileges we did growing up and actually trying to help them?
Impressive. And satisfying.
More people should want to help out those that need it, even when it does not bring them money or game. The type of thing makes me want to work harder, knowing other people want to make a difference as well. |
